APMCARES

People Matter

Because APMCares is funded by our employees, we are at heart a family of givers. Since 2015, we have assisted 300k individuals and families through donations to more than 200 charitable organizations and gifts to APM employees and their families experiencing hardship. We do this through our Community Outreach and Family Support programs.

Our Team

Vanessa Sharp

Sr. Administrative Specialist

Vanessa has been with American Pacific Mortgage, serving its leaders in various administrative capacities since 2003. She is a ferocious proponent of APMCares, and the work being done, learning the value of service in her youth by watching her parents & grandparents doing whatever they could for whomever was in need. Vanessa’s passion has always been to serve the underserved and to advance that passion at APM. Down time is filled with 2 grandchildren, an aging Lab mix and enjoying time with a large family & extended family.

Her aim is to make sure that every employee at APM realizes the importance of their support. She strives to ensure that a diverse group within the company and throughout APM’s footprint are served daily. She is always available to answer questions and facilitate the mission of APMCares.

Kurt Reisig

Chairman

As Chairman of American Pacific Mortgage, Kurt has led the company since its inception over 25 years ago. He is committed to serving producers and clients, doing so in an open and transparent environment, always offering stakeholders clarity and honesty in his dealings.

He was instrumental in creating APMCares, driven by his desire to do good in the communities we serve. Kurt’s experience coaching youth sports teams, while raising 3 boys uniquely prepared him for leadership and to see the conditions of those who are not being served as well as others in our communities. Kurt loves to mountain bike, and you’ll often find him espousing his industry views in videos from his bike, on LinkedIn.

With the help of a top-notch leadership team, Kurt maintains an open-door policy that keeps him connected to originators and clients’, staying in tune to the dynamic demands of the mortgage marketplace and closely involved in the APMCares mission to serve our employees and the underserved in communities where we live and work.

Denise Derner

VP of Experience

Denise first entered the hallways of APM 18 years ago, and has been blessed to do what she believes is her life calling – Create Experiences that Matter!  Her heart has been inspired by so many, including her parents who were both born in small towns in Iowa.  They had an incredible work ethic and believed the best gift to give was your presence.  Whether that was to lift a voice, a spirit, a hand, an ear…or raise up a prayer on one’s behalf.  Denise feels deeply grateful for this foundation!  This love, gratitude and positivity has always surrounded her, and if she can give even half of what her parents gave to those on their journey, she will have created a legacy of love for the books.  Inspired by a co-worker and Oprah of course, Denise recently hosted a 2024 Vision Board party, On it you would see the many other loves in her life besides family and friends….writing books, journaling, reading, rooting on the 49ers, self-cycle classes, meditation, music, traveling, giving back and celebrating and giving thanks for each blessing!

Tricia Sobon

VP Controller, APM

With over 25 years in the Mortgage industry, the past 7 years here at APM have been my favorite. The main reason is that they share my passion for giving back to the communities we operate in, which is now nationwide. Tricia has been an active participant in APM Cares since joining APM in 2015, as a donor and as part of the operational team. Tricia has known her husband since she was 13; they have one 25year old daughter and one fur baby. She is all about family and friends, am is frequent blood plasma donor, an avid skier and golfer. She I absolutely love getting her large family together now that they are empty nesters.

Of APMCares, she says “I am honored to expand my involvement in APM Cares as a Board Member. I will use my nearly 30 years of Finance & Accounting experience to make sure we are a good steward over all the contributions and help assure that we get the biggest bang for our bucks.”

Chuck Nugent

General Counsel, APM

Chuck has served as Human Resources & Compensation Risk Manager as well as General Counsel to American Pacific Mortgage since 2003 , he says “APMCares is how we own our place in the communities we serve.  APMCares is how we offer a helping hand to those in need.  Our contributions to APMCares make us walk with a little extra bounce in our step and tackle the daily grind just a little harder – secure in our knowledge that we are making a positive impact.

The folks who run APMCares maximize the benefit of our collective contributions.  Typically, when I give to charities, I am never entirely sure where the money is going, or if the people in charge truly share my priorities.  A person enrolling in APMCares knows that all contributions are managed by a rotating group of our co-workers, who share our culture, own the challenges facing our community and who are committed to making a difference in people’s lives.”

“What I would say to a recruit is that, in addition to all the wonderful things that APMCares does, it also presents an exciting marketing opportunity for loan originators.  By partnering with charities in the local community an originator can create media opportunities that are attractive to consumers that share the originator’s values and interests.”

Through these journeys, Matt has not only discovered the thrill of the open road but also connected with communities and cultures far and wide, gaining a deeper understanding of the diverse needs and challenges faced by individuals and communities not just at home, but around the world. Matt is a true advocate for change, proving that the journey toward a better world can be both rewarding and profoundly meaningful.

Matt was born in Washington and raised in Central America; along with his partner Elizabeth, he enjoys hiking with their two rescue dogs, foreign travel, collecting wine, and working out.

To our APM family of givers, your contributions are heroic! Not only have you helped house the homeless and feed the hungry, but you’ve helped our APM family through extraordinary circumstances. Through your generosity and kindheartedness, you demonstrate every day that community, compassion, commitment—and most of all people—are what matter.

In Gratitude – The APMCares Team
